The Harlan County High School Esports Team is off to a strong start this season with the Bittergiggle Fan Club (one of two Super Smash Brothers Ultimate teams at HCHS) currently at a number one ranking in the state, The Troublesome Trucks (the other Super Smash Brothers Ultimate HCHS team) ranks ninth in the state. The HCHS Street Fighter 6 Team ranks eighth on the entire East Coast.
“I’m very proud of these guys,” coach Sean Daniels said. “They are committed and practicing daily to get better. They work great together as a team.”
The Bittergiggle Fan Club, consisting of Landon Bailey, Dylan Johnson, and Andrew Daniels, started the season with a 3-2 win against Trinity High School on Sept. 25. They then went on to go 3-0 two weeks in a row against St. Mary High School on Oct. 2 and Oct. 16.
The Troublesome Trucks, consisting of Ben Smith, Hunter Lawson and JT Osborne, started off their season with a 3-0 win against Barren County High School on Sept. 25. They then went 3-0 against Belfry High School on Oct. 2, and Trinity High School on Oct. 16.
The HCHS Street Fighter 6 Team, consisting of Plez Dean, Cameron Brock and Landon Bailey, started \its first ever season with a 3-2 win against Edwards-Knox High School on Sept. 24.
