Picture one of your best friends asking you to play a game of checkers. They beat you, and it bothers you all day. It gets to the point where you obsess over it, and all you can think about is a rematch. This scenario describes me. These are the actions of being a competitive person. If there was one word I would describe myself with it would be competitive.
To begin with, competitive is the one word to describe myself with because of how I feel whenever I know someone is going to be a winner. I immediately want that person to be me. I get very sick to my stomach, and I start to shake rapidly. What is meant to be fun and healthy turns into a stressful situation.
Furthermore, another reason why I use the word competitive to describe me is because I will do anything to be the best. Even if I’m number two, I won’t be able to sleep at night. For example, in the fifth grade there was a girl who always performed better than me on everything. One day I grew tired of it, and I realized that I wasn’t putting everything into my work. Once I put more effort into my work, I became number one in the whole fifth grade class.
Next, the reason I’m so competitive is because I like the rewarding feeling after being on top. This feeling motivates me to constantly push my limits. It’s the reason I take pride in using the word competitive to describe myself. Even in casual situations, I find myself approaching tasks with a mindset to achieve not just a good outcome, but the best outcome. Being competitive is a trait that will push you all the way, and help you discover the best version of yourself.
In conclusion, the one word I would use to describe myself would be competitive. Even though this characteristic can cause a lot of stress, it still has its benefits. Having a competitive mindset can show you what you can really do if you put your mind to it. I acquired this personality trait over the years, and it’s safe to say that it’s better to have a competitive spirit than not to. Being competitive is who I am and who I always will be.
Maintaining a competitive spirit brings both positives and negatives into my life
