The Harlan County High School band is gearing up for competition season, with excitement building among students, staff, and the local community. Under the direction of music director Kevin Shepard, the HCHS band has been hard at work perfecting their show for what promises to be a highly competitive season.
The HCHS band has long been a source of pride for the community. Known for its strong performances and innovative shows, the band is ready to showcase its talent at regional and state competitions. This year’s show, themed Music from the 90s, features a blend of precision marching, powerful music, and stunning visual effects that captivate audiences.
“We’re aiming to build on last year’s success and push our limits even further,” said Shepard. “The students have been putting in countless hours of practice, and their hard work is really starting to pay off.”
“It’s an honor to lead such a talented group,” said drum major Jaylyn Dillman. “Our goal is to give our best performance and represent Harlan County with pride. We’ve worked hard, and we’re excited to compete.”
With their first competition just around the corner, the Harlan County High School Band is focused and determined to make a statement. Whether they come home with a trophy or simply wow the judges and audience, one thing is certain: the band will leave it all on the field.
The competition will take place on Oct. 5 at Tennessee’s High Stone Castle. Community members are encouraged to come out and show their support for the Harlan County High School band as they take the stage and perform their hearts out.
